Aaah, music. What a strange experience.
It takes your ears, your thoughts, your mind, your soul when you are just a little person. Then it follows you, sometimes you’ll leave it behind, but it will get you back again to her with her omnipresence. Like with cheese and soup, you find yourself changing tastes and finding that all in all, a lot of things that you had previously ignored, you now like.
There are sounds, certain sounds, that stick in your mind from an early age. And you can't help it, every time you listen to them again, they will have that pleasant taste. For me, it was the Beatles, Elton John, Simon & Garfunkel, Inti-Illimani and Rossini, which I used to listen to from a cassette player when I was still able to sit under the table, directly in front of the speaker. Then it was Pink Floyd's turn, then electronic music, then Heavy Metal and Glam Rock, Folk, Jazz, and finally I got tired of picking and choosing, and I think I have a sufficiently open mind to everything.
Particularly i rediscovered sounds, even natural, atonal sounds, and appreciate the effect they have on me, as I live, as I meditate.
I played some piano and transverse flute, when I was very young. My mother always tried to tell me the guitar was an amazing instrument, but I never listened to her. Until I fell in love with heavy metal, during my secondary school period, and I started playing an electric guitar.
I started playing the guitar at 16, and I have continued so far as self-taught, stubbornly refusing to take lessons. Now (age 30) I mostly play acoustic guitar. Shall I call it acoustic? It’s a Gitane Maccaferri style guitar which my friends thought I should own (<3).
Sometimes I play other instruments, like frame drum, pan flutes, wooden recorders, berimbau (since I practiced Capoeira) and, when I have some spare time, the instrument I build as my research job. And Computharp .
Throughout my life I have experimented in composing music by mixing various genres, including:
You can hear some of my music on Soundcloud.
I’ll put some stuff in evidence (my favourite tracks) here below:
I have two playalongs also on my YouTube channel, recorded for fun:
